Dr Innocent Maja
Dr Innocent is the founding and senior partner of the Law Firm. He holds the Bachelor of Laws Honours, Master of Laws and Doctor of Laws Degrees. He is a Legal Practitioner, Insolvency Practitioner, Conveyancer, Notary Public, Estate Administrator, Arbitrator as well as a Legal and Governance Consultant.
He is a cutting-edge and solution-oriented legal thought leader. He is a visionary, avid writer, innovative researcher, insightful teacher and equipped, versatile and strategic thinker as well as an excellent administrator, manager and leader.
He has considerable experience in contract negotiation, drafting and management; corporate structuring, corporate governance, corporate rescue, liquidations, coprorate and project finance, mergers and acquisitions and business leadership. He has vast experience in administering construction projects, energy industry transactions, road construction projects, telecommunications contracts, mining agreements, real estate transactions and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. In November 2022, Innocent distinguished himself as a business leader and was awarded the Zimbabwe TOP CEO Gold Winner by the ZIM CEO Network.
Innocent has extensive publications that include books, book chapters, articles in peer reviewed journals, consultancy reports, policy briefs, model legislation, etc. His publications include “The Law of Contract in Zimbabwe,’ a leading text used as authority by judges in judgements, lawyers in practice, academia and students. He is a distinguished academic leader having become Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Zimbabwe and also receiving the Outstanding Law Academic Leader Award from ZIM CEO Network in July 2022.
Innocent is an experienced legal drafter. He has been heavily involved in the drafting of the Companies and Other Entities Act, Insolvency Act, Legal Practitioners Bill, Citizenship Bill, Immigration Bill, Traditional Leaders Bill, etc. He serves on various Boards including World Vision Zimbabwe, International Bridges to Justice.
Advocate Brighton Andrew Muramba-Masilo
Brighton holds the Bachelor of Laws Honours and Master of Laws in Commercial Law Degrees. He is currently pursuing his PHD studies.
Brighton represents Zimbabwean and global clients on all aspects of developing and protecting utility and design patent portfolios. He is a registered patent attorney and has experience preparing and filing Zimbabwe and Aripo patent applications; handling patent interference, reissue and reexamination proceedings; and counseling clients on issues of patentability, Trademarks, Copyrights validity, freedom to operate, and infringement avoidance. Brighton also provides strategic counseling on patent litigation matters.
He also specializes in Insurance law including representing clients in catastrophic personal injury cases arising from commercial motor vehicle wrecks, workplace accidents, explosions and fires, and defective vehicles and other products. In labor matters Brighton also do reviews, preparation, and negotiation of employment, shareholder, operating, and partnership agreements, medical director agreements, exclusive services agreements, practice sales, mergers, joint ventures, real estate acquisitions, leases, third party payor reimbursement, accident claims.
His practice also focuses on estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney for financial and health care, and advance directives. Brighton approaches estate planning on a client-by-client basis, with each client having the opportunity to create an estate plan tailored to their specific goals, financial needs, and family structure.
Brighton has an appreciation of business formation and labor law, business contracts, real estate, land use, and Immigration law focused on estate and guardianship matters. He also advised on banking and finance matters (including acquisition and leveraged finance; aviation finance; and corporate finance); mergers & acquisitions; private equity; structured finance; syndicated and bilateral financing structures; international transactions; acquisitions and management/leveraged buy-outs; and restructuring of corporate entities.
